Engaged.

I woke up on President's Day in 2013 knowing that it was going to be a family ski day, my favorite type of day. I got a hold of Alex to see when we were going to leave, because we were going to drive up separate and meet my family there. He says, "Me and Jordan are going up together, so you can come with us if you want." I was a little upset because I had thought WE were going together. (Little did I know Jordan would be a part of something important later on....)

Me, Alex, and Jordan rode up in Alex's truck to the Beav. We quickly found my family and skied the morning away. There is nothing better than skiing with the family, and my mom was even up there this day! We went into eat lunch around One-ish. Little did I know that my whole family knew that Alex planned to pop the question after lunch. Apparently everyone was giving each other looks and dropping hints during lunch and of course I was clueless.

The time came when we finished eating our tasty grilled cheeses, and we got all of our gear back on to head up the mountain again. We got on the face lift so we didn't have to hike our lazy bums up to the dream lift. We were at the top of the face lift and it happened to only be me, Alex, and Mike. Apparently everyone else had already skied down to the dream lift. Mike told me that he wanted to get some film on his go-pro of us skiing and told me and Alex to go ahead so he could follow us. We were at the bottom of the dream in another 30 seconds.

As we were riding up the dream lift I finally noticed that Jordan was missing. I kept asking, "Where's the Jordan? Where's the big grey guy?!" Of course Mike was still filming us on his go-pro on the lift ride up. I was just having a good old time and had no idea what was about to happen. Steve and Jordan were holding up a huge banner as I was getting of the lift. I literally did not see the sign "Will you marry me?" until my skis touched the snow at the top of the lift. I about crapped myself. I always told Alex that I didn't want to know it was coming when he proposed, because that was totally lame. And I was TOTALLY surprised.

I barley ski over to the flat area and watch Alex as he proceeds to take his helmet and gloves off, and then his skis. During this time I am screaming, "This is not happening, Are you serious?!" And then it happened. He knelt down on one knee (My skis and gloves are still on at this point...) and says "We have waited a long time for this, Lindsay Ann Hlavaty, Will you marry me?" I paused for what felt like the longest 5 seconds ever, out of pure shock and excitement. Then I shouted "Of course I will!!"

After I said yes, the crowds behind us were cheering and even hitting their ski poles together. There was A LOT of kissing and hugging and pictures taken after that. One of my favorite ladies and second mom, Lisa Garlick was there to capture the whole thing with her camera! We had two different cameras that were filming the whole thing. One from Mike on the go-pro, and one from my Dad with another camera.

It was an awesome day. There wasn't a more perfect place to propose. It was special to me for a couple different reasons.

1.We were up on the mountain skiing, doing what we love to do with family and friends.

2. The top of the dream lift has a beautiful memorial for my best friend Jocie Garlick. I like to think that she is with me whenever I ski at the Beav, shining bright through the trees onto the fresh powder. I do believe she was up there with us for that special day, cheering us on, sharing the excitement and happiness.
